Overview
Guide Purpose
This document outlines the recommended Training Recordings to watch when learning to use EQuIS on your own. Within each section below, topics are listed in the suggested chronological viewing order. However, apart from the Introduction to EQuIS section, sections may be completed in any order (or independently).
Training Recording Access
The EQuIS Training recordings (as well as additional recordings) are available on the EarthSoft Community Center.
To access the recordings on the EarthSoft Community Center:
1.Login to the EarthSoft Community Center.
2.Select the Downloads dashboard.
3.Under the All Items section, expand the EQuIS Training Recordings (EQuIS Academy) node.
4.Expand the node of the desired training topic and choose a level (Entry-Level, Intermediate-Level, or Advanced-Level). The recordings will appear in a table to the right. All recordings are available for View (via Screencast) or for Download, as desired.
Skill Level Definition
On the EarthSoft Community Center, recordings are also grouped by EQuIS application. They are then placed into sub-groups based upon skill-level. The skill-levels are as follows:

Training Duration and Applying Resources
The time denoted per section and per topic refers to the duration of the recordings if simply watched from start to finish. Following along and stepping through the corresponding exercises may take additional time.
Introduction to EQuIS (2 hours)

•Understand EQuIS applications and workflows

Learn the basic terms and concepts used in EQuIS applications. Understand how to communicate data requirements to laboratories, field staff and contractors. Discover how to own the EQuIS workflow and make decisions.
Note: It is highly recommended that new EQuIS users review this content prior to attending other EQuIS Trainings.
Setting Up New Projects in EQuIS Professional (1 hour)
Entry-level Training
•Create new projects and sites in EQuIS Professional
Learn how to prepare EQuIS Professional for new projects. Discuss Test-Alternate Keys, add new facilities, and build and maintain reference tables to EQuIS Professional. Review the best management practices for adding new projects to an existing EQuIS database.
EQuIS Data Processor (EDP) (4 hours)
Upload and Manage EDDs (EQuIS Enterprise EDP) (1 hour)
Entry-level Training
•Sign and submit data to EQuIS Enterprise
•Manage the status of Electronic Data Deliverables (EDDs)
Discuss options for importing data automatically into EQuIS Enterprise. Understand the EQuIS Enterprise EDP workflow and view EDD notifications.
Check and Import EDDs (EQuIS Professional EDP) (2 hours)
Intermediate-level Training
•Check and correct data with EQuIS Professional EDP

Check datasets provided by laboratories, field staff and contractors. Review standard checks in EarthSoft’s standard EDD Formats. Learn tools to efficiently correct and load data into EQuIS. Gain the confidence to review and approve datasets.

View .xsd, .vb, and .enum sections of a standard EQuIS format. Make changes to formats, rename and add fields, remap fields, and add enumerations to EDD formats.

Explore the Groups and Action Levels interfaces. Gain the ability to produce standard and advanced action levels, including hardness-based, location, and summed-based action levels.
Time Series Charts and Contours (1 hour)

Utilize several of the standard reports included in EQuIS Professional to create time series charts and contour plots.
Crosstab Reports (2 hours)

The Crosstab reporting tool generates tabulated reports that compares results to regulatory standards, highlights exceedances, displays data in multiple layouts, and much more. Design crosstab reports to display data in multiple layouts in EQuIS. Apply Microsoft Excel templates to crosstab reports, and learn to setup dynamic headers, footers and cell styles. Publish crosstab designs (along with templates) to the EQuIS database for use in EQuIS Enterprise.
Create Report Definition Library (RDL) Reports (1 hour)

Customize Existing Reports (1 hour)

Explore advanced configuration of standard EQuIS reports. Add custom columns using Extra Select and enhance standard output with modifications to ST_REPORT_PARAMETER.DATA_SOURCE query language.
The EQuIS SQL Form and Build Custom Forms (2 hours)

Use the EQuIS SQL Form to write custom queries to report data in EQuIS Professional. Learn to build new Forms in Visual Studio and enable them in EQuIS Professional.
Administer EQuIS in SQL Server (1.5 hours)
Review topics pertaining to creating and maintaining EQuIS databases in Microsoft SQL Server. Topics include security, maintenance, and EQuIS database optimization.

Create and modify maps and charts within EQuIS Enterprise. Configure time series charts across multiple data types and design widgets to aid in quick decisions.
Automate EDD Submissions and Reporting (1 hour)

Use EQuIS SPM to build field planning reports, laboratory bottle requests, sample labels, and more. Learn to complete essential tasks for sample planning and generate reports that easily and clearly indicate whether field activities have been completed.
Manage Sample Receipt Notifications (SRNs) with EQuIS SPM (1 hour)

•Reschedule sampling for receipt anomalies, laboratory error, shipping/custody delays
Use the SRN module to track sample receipt issues, plan resampling events, and track laboratory on-time delivery. Review and load SRNs with the EQuIS Data Processor (EDP) and manage existing SRNs in SPM.
Automate Completeness with EQuIS Enterprise (1 hour)

EQuIS Live is designed and optimized for high frequency, high volume data. Create advanced time series charts to display high frequency, high volume data from data loggers in EQuIS Live with EQuIS Enterprise dashboards. Learn to view and qualify EQuIS Live data and monitor changes to data in real-time.

•Review previous validation events with DQM history
Review and qualify analytical data in the EQuIS DQM within EQuIS Professional. Run the DQM Qualification Report, modify qualifiers and remarks, and review previous qualifications with DQM History.
Configure EQuIS DQM for Administrators (1.5 hours)

Upload, review and modify EQuIS DQM rules and parameters based on project-specific requirements. EQuIS DQM administrators review and translate quality control criteria from a project QAPP to an EQuIS DQM QAPP.
EQuIS EnviroInsite (7 hours)
Getting EnviroInsite to Talk to Your EQuIS Schema (1 hour)
Entry-level Training
The first step to use EnviroInsite is to organize and load data in EQuIS. Linked tables require common field contents to allow for joins between tables. Plan out specific needs and objectives with EnviroInsite and then determine which tables need to be populated.
Create Cross-Sections in EnviroInsite (1 hour)
Entry-level Training
Rapidly query and display lithologic and environmental data in EnviroInsite as two-dimensional cross-sections.
Advanced Tools for 2D Contouring in EnviroInsite (1 hour)
Intermediate-level Training
Take your two-dimensional contours to the next level with many advanced contouring tools.
Generate Animations Using the EnviroInsite Timeline (1 hour)
Entry-level Training
Easily switch the queried date range for multiple EnviroInsite plot-objects. Generate powerful animations simply with the animate feature and save the animation as a file compatible for viewing in other applications.
Make the Most of Downhole Data with Feature-Rich Boring Logs (2 hours)
Intermediate-level Training
Generate detailed page-size boring logs to document well construction and boring logs. Strip logs present the same type of information in a more compact style. Boring log data may be displayed on two-dimensional profiles or as three-dimensional columns in three-dimensional views of the site.
3D Visualization in EnviroInsite (1 hour)
Entry-level Training
Produce three-dimensional (3D) constituent plots in EnviroInsite with data from EQuIS. Plot data that includes chemical analytical results, water quality parameters, lithology and water elevations. Explore the many different types of 3D constituent plots in EnviroInsite.
EQuIS for Third-Party Interfaces (6 hours)

•Connect to EQuIS in ArcGIS
•Map sample locations and geodatabase output
•Build report-based layers with EZView
•Review the symbology and the Style Gallery
Import EQuIS data into Esri’s ArcMap, learn the different default options of the EQuIS for ArcGIS interface, and present data visually using pie charts, graduated symbols, and contours. Create spider diagrams using EQuIS for ArcGIS interface and learn to animate layers over time.
EQuIS for AutoCAD (1 hour)
Intermediate-level Training
•Plot EQuIS Locations in AutoCAD
•Create Spider Diagrams
The EQuIS for AutoCAD interface can quickly export EQuIS data to AutoDesk AutoCAD. Query and map locations and environmental data. Connect to the EQuIS database from AutoCAD and plot locations directly. Create geo-referenced maps with spider diagrams (analytical tables), publish them to EQuIS, and then plot them in AutoCAD.
EQuIS for Google Earth (1 hour)
Intermediate-level Training
•Review data requirements for Google Earth
•Create new coordinate data with the Coordinate Conversion Form
•Report to Google Earth via EQuIS Professional or EQuIS Enterprise
Convert coordinate data to ”LATLONG” for use in Google Earth, explore the available standard Google Earth reports, and learn to make any spatial report into a Google Earth report.
EQuIS for gINT (1 hour)
Intermediate-level Training
•Query and export data from EQuIS Professional into gINT
The EQuIS for gINT interface imports data from gINT project databases to create borehole logs, fence diagrams, reports, and tables using gINT. Designed to work “out-of-the-box” with the default gINT US project database, templates, and library. Producing borehole logs and reports using gINT is a simple, intuitive process.
